Humans evolved in the open air and on the dirt. Yes, we now live indoors, but there is an innate part of us that craves — that NEEDS — time in the outdoors. It might mean you are cold. It might mean you are hot. It might mean you get DIRTY. That’s the point! Regular exposure to the elements and the earth wakes up your senses, builds appreciation for your natural surroundings, feeds your microbiome, affects your “happy” brain chemicals, and will make you healthier and more resilient.


  • Take a brisk walk around the block in the morning before you leave for work. You can even take your coffee with you!

  • Take walking phone calls and/or meetings at work.

  • Park at the back of the lot.

  • Like to run or hike? Pause the forward motion and climb up a tree or over a boulder. Get your hands dirty!

  • Go camping in the woods or even your backyard!
